Understanding Tallit Measurements

All tallit sizes are listed as: Width × Length

Diagram showing tallit width and length measurements

WIDTH (First Number)

Measured across the shoulders, from one fringed side to the other.

Width determines how much the tallit wraps around your shoulders and upper back.

LENGTH (Second Number)

Measured from the top edge that rests near the neck down to the bottom fringed edge.

Length determines how far the tallit hangs down the front and back.

Example: 24" × 72"
24" Width = shoulder and back coverage
72" Length = how far the tallit hangs down

Shawl Style

  • Worn around the shoulders and upper back.
  • Hangs down slightly in front.
  • Lighter and more comfortable for everyday wear.
